GDPR Conference - Bishopsgate London
Oct 2017
This conference was billed as one of the largest of its kind to discuss the impacts on British businesses as a result of the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Attendance was essential given speakers would include law partners, the Direct Marketing Association and the Information Commissioners Office, who are introducing the Regulation that would supersede the Data Protection Act 1998 (Directive 95/46EC). Concerns are rife amongst business owners who are now forced to grapple with data ownership and data owners rights, namely those of the data subject, who under the new regulations, has total control over their personal data and the 'right to be forgotten'. Attendance at this will help us deliver practical examples and set the ball in motion for developing systems driven entirely by 'Consent' and transparency as the Regulation comes into force on 25th May 2018.

Warwick Boys & Kings High Girl's Schools, Warwick - Career Event
May 2017
What an incredible night. Genesis DM supported the careers dept of both schools by attending on behalf of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. The event ran officially from 6:30pm to 9:30pm but the doors were opened to students and their parents early due to the numbers gathering. Around 70 organisations attended including; Barclays Bank, Jaguar Landrover, Manufacturing Technology Centre, Brewin Dolphin and the armed forces. From our perspective, we didn't have a single moment all evening with a break to take on food and drink, such was the demand from students to learn more about this incredibly exciting and varied industry that is marketing. At times students were queuing with their parents often three deep for a chance to learn more about a career. On the back of the evening's success we've been invited to give a presentation to King's High for those girls who didn't get to meet us.

Nigel Davis - invited to become a Small Business, Schools & CIM Education Ambassador
April 2017
On the back of a meeting with the Chartered Institute of Marketing to discuss the desire to build further on its support for small business, schools and the education of each about the value of professional marketing, Nigel Davis, our managing director has been invited to lend his support for the issue by accepting the role of CIM Ambassador. "I'm humbled to have been offered the role and will take care to see precisely how much time I would have to give this. Given a growing list of pro-bono roles that are currently being undertaken, I wouldn't want those to suffer as a consequence of accepting".
